Meet us!
Hi I am Morris, I'm 13 years old and I live near the sea. I like sports, first I played tennis for four years but now I play hockey three times a week. I have a sister, her name is Benthe and she is eleven years old, she also plays hockey. My fathers name is Rutger and he plays tennis, he is quite good. My mothers name is Mariska and she likes to run, she ran her first official run last month. Both of my parents work and my sister is at the primary school. At the moment we don’t have any pets, however we did have chickens and fishes. I wish we had a dog. I am in the second year at the Jac P Thijsse college. I enjoy the allround aspect because I like to do different kind of projects. Although having all courses in English is challenging, I enjoy it and I think it is important to learn English well. My class is 2VE and it is a very nice class! |
My name is Tijne and I’m 13 years old. I live in the Netherlands and I have a brother a sister and parents. My school is called Jac.p.thijsse college. I love to play hockey and to draw. I like to draw from my imagination and I like to listen to music, I don’t have a specific kind of music but I love to listen to Disney songs. I also like to read books and watch. When I watch films and it is based on a book, I like to read the book first so I know what it is all about. I have 3 rabbits. Their names are Binky, Chipp and Vlekkie. My favourite season is winter because then it is my birthday and I love to see the nature, my favourite celebration of the whole year is Christmas because then my family is together for the holiday. |
Hello I am Rosa, I’m 13 years old and live together with my family in Holland. My family consists of my father: Patrick, my mother: Esther, my sister Luna who is 15 years old and me. My hobbies are being creative and reading, I really like to make drawings or pimp up things, for example a phone cover or picture frame. I like reading the books of Carry Slee. I also do sports: speedskating and tennis. But I have an injury in my knee so this year it was really difficult to do these sports. In the weekends I also like to go shopping with my family or with my friends. I don’t know what I want to be in the future, but something with a manager I like because I like to plan and organise things. I have 2 rabbits: Luzy and Roxy. Sometimes they are sweet but most of the time they are naughty. I would like to have a dog, but this is not possible because my parents both work and then we do not have enough time for the dog. My favourite holiday country is Italy because of the weather and of course the food! I really like the pizza’s but my favourite is the real Italian lasagne.Hello, I'm Kai and I am 13 years old, I live in North Holland and I like to sleep because it feels very refreshing. I also play a sport, Athletics, I enjoy it because it’s not just running but also a lot of other things. I have a brother, he is 11 years old, and my parents aren’t together anymore so my dad has a new girlfriend who already has 3 kids so those are my stepbrothers and sisters, I really like them but they are pretty noisy sometimes. I really love the United States (if trump wouldn’t be there) and I would love to go there some day.

I have one little brother, he is 1.5 years younger but he is already a bit longer than me. My dad is ENT specialist and my mum works by a school board. I also have a little dog, she is called Ruby because of her colour. I also play piano every Monday, now I'm learning how to play pink panther. I also like to draw, I mostly draw animals like birds. My name is Sanne, I'm 13 years old and I'm living in Holland. My family consists out of five people and we live together in a terraced house. I like to play sports and much more so, keep on reading! I've got one little sister called Micky. She got her A diploma a few weeks ago. My brother's name is Luca and he's 10 years old. He is a bit game-addicted but he still likes to play football too. My mother's name is Mirjam. She works in healthcare at the main office of the ViVa!Zorggroep. My dad is called Michael. He is 42 years old and has a kidney disease and a narrowing in his aorta abdomen. He still likes to play sports but it's lots more difficult than before his operations. I'm at the Jac. P. Thijsse College with a nice class. My level at school is VWO (pre-university education) and I follow bilingual lessons so almost every subject I get is given in English. At the beginning it was difficult but later in the year you get used to it. My hobbies are doing all kind of sports. I prefer to play football and tennis but actually I would like to play tennis more often. |
Our introduction video
Pension
When you are 67 years old you get pension in the Netherlands. That means that you don’t have to work anymore but you get money from the government so that you have enough money for your house etc. The amount of money you get depends on how much money you earned from your work before. Some people decide to work longer because maybe they are still really healthy. So pension is not mandatory it is your own choice.
Daily life of grandparents in general
We asked a lot of grandparents and came to the conclusion that most of the grandparents live close to the rest of the family, we really care about them. Although they are old they still have a lot of hobbies like: cycling, watching soccer matches, walking, but most important and of course doing things with the family.
Most of people see their grandparents a lot, they like to discuss what happened or about what is going to happen.
most of the people greet there grandparents with a hug, kiss, or handshake. We think that grandparents are very important in our lives because they have a lot experience with different things so their opinions are very helpful for us.

Meet our grandparents with an interview!
.
Meet Rosa her grandmother!
1. Do you feel respected by family members?
Yes I do, because on Saturday they all come to our house and we have a chat about the week. They help us with everything and that’s really fine. My family is everything for me and I love them.
2. Do you see your family daily?
Yes of course, what I already said we see them every Saturday, Tuesday and with birthdays and sometimes we go to a place with each other. I like it that we see them regularly because we have a good relationship with each other.
3. What kind of things do you do in your daily life?
I do volunteer work in ‘The Swan’ that’s a club were people play bingo or watch presentations and for those people I make coffee. I like to do this because it feels a little bit like work and you have a lot of contact with other people. I also cycle a lot to family to drink coffee etc.
On Thursday I go to my grandchildren (Mees,10) and Guusje,7) and there I take care of them and do some tasks in their house.
On Tuesday my other grandchildren (Luna,16) and (Rosa,13) come to me and do here their homework for school and have a chat etc.
4. What work did you do in the past?
Well, me and my husband used to have our own bakery in the neighbourhood we live in. I have really funny memories from that time even we had to work really hard, but when my children (John, my uncle) and Esther (my mother) were older they also worked in the bakery. Now we still bake a lot but don’t have the bakery anymore for a while. My grandchildren also like to bake with us.
5. What do you like about your family?
I really like my family because we have a strong relationship with each other. We live in the same neighbourhood, that’s why we see each other regularly. I like to see my grandchildren growing up and see them becoming more mature.

Meet Morris his grandfather!
1. Do you feel respected by family members in general?
Yes because they ask me things. They are really friendly to me and they are always willing to invite me. We always have very pleasant talks. I feel very comfortable with that.
2. What do you do in your daily live?
I do a lot of biking, I clean the house, make dinner for myself, work on my computer and have a lot of fun with my grandchildren. I play volleyball every Tuesday evening. It's a very recreative team and cozy with several other people of my age, I do this sport about 30 years. I like my team very much and sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Now and then I go to the cinema for a special movie. Mostly the film is with a lot of humour. I also go to the theatre and I often visit my wife who is ill.

conclusion
We have collected all our information and come to the conclusion that we of course
have sufficient respect for our Grandparents!! It is important to have grandparents in our live and it is important that to visit often to have a talk about what you have done this week because otherwise they probably feel alone. You would never forget them because they are your family and with your whole family you lead a life. Our grandparents are like parents: they take care of you and you take care of them for example in case of illness.
this was the end of our page. we hope you liked it and that you now more know about the Grandparents in the Netherlands.
